BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan.16

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Kazakhstan’s Embamunaigas (EMG) oil company significantly increased its hydrocarbon resource base in 2019 mainly due to additional exploration of existing oil fields, Trend reports with reference to EMG.

As of Jan. 1, 2020, the remaining recoverable reserves of EMG amounted to 86.2 million tons compared to 74.3 million tons as of Jan. 1, 2019.

“Oil reserves in the amount of 14.8 million tons for the existing fields of Nurzhanov, Kenbay (Eastern Moldabek section), Dosmukhambetovskoe, Botakhan and the newly discovered Western Karasor field (1.4 million tons) were approved in 2019. The increase was achieved as a result of a rational approach to the development of Mature fields and active exploration by using new methods and technologies," said the Chairman of the Board of EMG Anuar Zhaksybekov.

In addition, EMG completed the large-scale field seismic prospecting work of the Common Depth Point 3D (CDP) Method at the Taisoygan site in the volume of 5,600 square meters last year.

At present, the processing and interpretation of the obtained CDP 3D data is being performed, which will result in the preparation of promising structures for prospecting and exploration drilling.
