About 114 oil and gas wells were drilled and handed over to exploiting companies by National Iranian Drilling Company in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), said National Iranian Drilling Company managing director Abdollah Mousavi, Trend reports citing NIDC's portal.
According to Mousavi, three of the drilled wells were exploration wells, 39 were delineation wells and 72 of them were repair wells.
Mousavi added that a number of wells were drilled in different areas. About 81 wells at the National Iranian South Oil Company's area, 16 wells at the Iran's Offshore Oil Company's area, 4 wells at the Central Oil Fields Company, 3 wells at the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company's area and 10 exploration wells were drilled at the Iran's National Oil Company' area.
The official said that a total of 163.9 thousand meters of excavations were carried out last year.
Mousavi said that more than 1,000 meters have been drilled in well #474 at the Maroon oil field (National Iranian South Oil Company's area) within 3 days of the current year (starting from March 20, 2020).
"Excavation of this well began on July 29, 2019 and has progressed by more than 3,000 meters in total," he said.
According to official, National Iranian Drilling Company has more than 70 drilling rigs and currently, despite the non-working days (in connection with Novruz holiday),11 rigs are being transported to the intended sites.
A total of about 370,000 barrels of oil are produced daily from Iran's Maroon oil field.
In general, Iran has 125 oil fields and 59 gas fields. Iran's total hydrocarbon reserves are 836 billion barrels. With its technology equipment, it can produce 239 billion barrels. Iran can use 29 percent and 71 percent remain underground.
