Mobile oil separator system commissioned at Iran's South Yaran field

The MOS (mobile oil separator) system has been put into operation at the South Yaran joint oil field in Khuzestan province in southwestern Iran (this field is called Majnoon field in Iraq), said Head of South Yaran Oil Field Development Project Homayoun Kazemeini, Trend reports citing National Iranian Oil Company’s website.

According to Kazemeini, six wells were drilled and put into operation in the South Yaran oil field from March 20 through April 19, 2020.

Kazemeini added that oil production from this field will increase current Iranian year (began from March 20, 2020).

The official said that the goal is to increase production from this field by 25,000 barrels per day.

South Yaran Oil Field is one of the jointly implemented Iranian-Iraqi projects, located to the west of the Karun River and 130 km southwest of the Ahvaz County of Iran’s Khuzestan Province.

The field contains 550 million barrels of oil and the recoverable reserves are estimated at 50 million barrels. The heavy oil grade of this field is API 20. Currently, a project to extract 50,000 barrels of oil per day from this field is being implemented.
