BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 22

Shell projects in Kazakhstan are being developed in line with the development plans agreed with Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy, Shell representative told Trend.

On July 15, 2020, OPEC+ countries agreed to decrease oil output in August by 7.7 million barrels a day starting Aug. till the end of 2020.

The agreement was made during a 20th Meeting of the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee (JMMC), during which Kazakhstan has announced that it will carry out its responsibilities within August OPEC+ oil extraction cuts.

Commenting on the Kazakhstan’s participation in the OPEC+ deal the Shell’s official said that both Shell’s assets in Kazakhstan (North Caspian Operating Company and Karachaganak Petroleum Operating companies) strictly adhere to their Production Sharing agreements and applicable laws.

“The projects are being developed in line with the development plans agreed with Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy. In general, 1H2020 was successful for Shell Kazakhstan. Both our assets operated safely and reliably,” the official said.

The official also talked COVID-19 situation at the company-operated assets.

“Health and safety of our staff is the highest priority for Shell. Shell has already taken a decision effective July 1, 2020 to send non-essential business personnel and their families from Atyrau (North Caspian Operating Company) to home-countries where borders are open, given current developments related to COVID-19 in Kazakhstan and Atyrau region. These Shell secondees will continue to perform their North Caspian Operating Company duties remotely. This will not impact North Caspian Operating Company’s operational performance,” the official said.
