Trend:

Power plants in Iran are allowed to be active in crypto mining, by following approved tariffs, spokesman for Iran's power industry Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi said, Trend report via IRNA.

"The power plants must submit their requests, and follow th approved tariff set for mining crypto currency centers," said Mashhadi.

"Power plants that are independent from the country's power network could be active in mining," he added.

"Power supply is currently very important for the public consumption, so individuals that are abusing electricity tariffs for mining Bitcoins, will be dealt with," he said.

"Iran has the cheapest power tariff, so those wishing to do crypto mining, should apply for necessary permits from the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade," he said.

"A total of 14 requests were submitted for establishment of mining crypto currency centers, and these centers consume the same amount of power equal to three provinces," he added.

Mashhadi also said that those who will report illegal cryptocurrency mining, would be rewarded.
