New solar panel station launched in Iran's Yazd Province

A 10-megawatt solar panel station was launched in the Ardakan County of Yazd Province (central Iran), today on Jan. 19, Trend reports citing Ministry of Energy of Iran.

According to the report, 1.07 trillion rials (about $25.5 million) was spent on the construction of the station.

“The plant will generate more than 17.5 gigawatt-hours of electricity per year. About 5 million cubic meters of gas will be saved, and the spread of 12,900 tons of carbon dioxide will be prevented,” the report said.

In addition, with the launched of this station, 75 people were employed. At the same time, 3,850 cubic meters of water were saved, the report said.

According to the report, the number of large solar panel stations in Yazd Province has reached 71 with the launch of this station. In general, the electricity generation potential of these stations is 75 megawatt-hours.

Today, 6 electrical facilities have been launched in Iran's Yazd and Kerman provinces, and 17 villages have been supplied with electricity. A total of 2.62 trillion rials (about $62.4 million) was spent on these operations.
