BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 22
By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:
Georgia must do everything to improve its energy independence, to build new facilities and to make country an independent, powerful exporter of electricity across the region, said Georgian Minister of Economy Natia Turnava, Trend reports via Georgian media.
She made the remark at a Parliament session.
Turnava said new facilities should be constructed, and Georgia should be independent in this respect.
She says the energy field is disputable, especially the construction of large HPPs, but all the power facilities’ capacity is about 4,500 megawatts, and 70 percent were built during the Soviet era.
“It means that new facilities should be built, and Georgia should be independent in this respect,’’ Turnava said.
