bp discloses operational, capital expenditures on BTC pipeline in 1H2021

Operating expenditure on Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline (BTC) made up $69 million and capital expenditure exceeded $12 million in the first half of 2021, Trend reports referring to bp.

According to the company’s statement, since the 1,768 km BTC pipeline became operational in June 2006 till July 1, 2021, the pipeline carried more than 488 million tons (3.66 billion barrels) of crude oil loaded on 4,796 tankers in Ceyhan and sent to world markets.

In the first half of this year, more than 13 million tons (around 99 million barrels) of crude oil and condensate loaded on 137 tankers at terminal in Ceyhan were sent to world markets.

The total length of the BTC pipeline is 1,768 kilometers, of which 443 kilometers pass through the territory of Azerbaijan, 249 kilometers - Georgia, 1,076 kilometers - Turkey. Construction of the pipeline was launched in April 2003 and was filled with oil on May 18, 2005.

Shareholders of the BTC Co. which was established on August 1, 2002 for the implementation of the project are: BP (30.1 percent); AzBTC (25 percent); MOL (replaced Chevron as of 16 April 2020) (8.9 percent); Statoil (8.71 percent), TPAO (6.53 percent), Eni (five percent), Total (five percent), Itochu (3.40 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), CIECO (2.50 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
