Iran’s Shazand Oil Refining Company boosts propylene production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 10

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Annual propylene production of Iran’s Shazand Oil Refining Company reached 200,000 tons over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Executive Director of Iran’s Shazand Oil Refining Company Gholamhossein Ramazanpour said, Trend reports citing the company.

The director noted that however, the company produced less than 140,000 tons of propylene per year by the end of the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020).

“As a result of the implementation of the plan for the production of normal hexane and normal pentane products, the company produces 50,000 tons of these products per year. This prevents $45 million a year from flowing out of the country,” Ramazanpour said.

The company official also noted that 1,500 spare parts worth 800 billion rials (about $19 million) were produced domestically last Iranian year in cooperation of the company with local manufacturers.

As reported, the Shazand (Imam Khomeini) Oil Refining Company was launched in 1993 with the capacity to process 150,000 barrels of oil per day. The company currently processes more than 250,000 barrels of oil.

It also produces more than 17 million liters of gasoline and 12 million liters of diesel in accordance with the Euro 4 standard as well as 500 tons of propylene, 400 tons of granular sulfur and 2,000 tons of liquefied gas per day.
