BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 22

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran's Kangan Petro Refining Company (KPRC) will put into operation new olefin and propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plants in the next two years (March 21, 2023, through March 20, 2024), Deputy Oil Minister and Executive Director of Iran’s National Petrochemical Company, Behzad Mohammadi said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

Mohammadi noted that the olefin plant will produce light and heavy polyethylene from ethylene, while the propane dehydrogenation plant will produce polypropylene from propane.

The deputy minister added that these plants will produce a total of 1.5 million tons of polymer per year.

“The gas extracted from the 12th phase of Iran's South Pars gas field is transported to the Kangan Petrochemical Company and processed there,” the director said.

Reportedly, the ethane processing plant of Iran's Kangan Petro Refining Company consumes 21 million tons of fuel a year. The plant can produce 1.75 million tons of ethane, 1 million tons of propane, 500,000 tons of butane, and 250,000 tons of pentane per year. The company's annual revenue is estimated at about $1 billion.
