TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.1
Trend:
Iran sees an increase in CNG consumption by 30 percent following the recent cyber-attack and disruption in its smart fuel system, said a member of Iran CNG Association Trend reports citing IRNA.
The country's CNG stations are not connected to smart fuel systems therefore they are not facing problems in supply, Mohsen Johari noted.
The following increase was an average of 30 percent but in some regions, it increased to 50 percent. The increase has boosted the fuel supply across the country.
Fuel consumption is expected to increase by the decline of coronavirus infections and rising vaccination that can affect the country's gasoline export therefore CNG would be an alternative to control gasoline consumption.
A cyber-attack recently hit an intranet-based system that lets motorists buy subsidized fuel with government-issued smart cards, causing long queues at stations.
