TEHRAN, Iran, Nov. 4

Trend:

The Russian embassy in Tehran has rejected the recent claims over Iran's restriction for extracting Caspian Sea gas resources, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

Earlier, the Head of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Association of Iran Ardeshir Dadras said Russia does not allow the Islamic Republic of Iran to extract gas from 8 gas fields in the Caspian Sea.

Russian Embassy in Tehran announced that these statements are not true.

“Russia Embassy in Iran is authorized to declare that they are untrue and are a deliberate provocation aimed at undermining friendly Russian-Iranian relations,” the Russian embassy said in a statement published on its official Twitter account.

Earlier, Iran’s envoy to Russia, Kazem Jalali denied reports suggesting that Tehran should obtain Russia’s approval before any decision to drill for natural gas in the Caspian Sea.
