BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 31. Azerbaijan’s gas exports to Turkey dropped by 28.85 percent in January 2022, as compared to the same month in 2021, and stood at 796.32 million cubic meters versus 1.119 billion cubic meters, Trend reports with reference to Turkey’s Energy Markets Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

The country came in third in terms of natural gas exports to Turkey during the reporting period.

Russia was the largest exporter of natural gas to Turkey in January 2022 with more than 2.618 billion cubic meters, a 2.11 percent decrease year-on-year, followed by the US with 1.205 billion cubic meters, or 89.92 percent more year-on-year.

Turkey’s overall gas imports rose by 10.03 percent in January 2022 year-on-year and stood at 6.705 billion cubic meters versus 6.094 billion cubic meters, with almost 4.064 billion cubic meters accounting for pipeline imports and 2.641 billion cubic meters imported as liquefied natural gas.

Pipeline imports decreased by 9.86 percent, while LNG imports saw a 66.57 percent growth.
