BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 21. Iran's South Pars Gas Company (SPGC) has produced 1.96 trillion cubic meters of gas over the past 25 years, the Executive Director of the company Ahmad Bahush said, Trend reports.
The director also said that a total of 2.34 trillion cubic meters of rich gas were received as raw material from the South Pars gas field.
Bahush added that the SPGC also produced and exported 2.8 billion barrels of gas condensate, 25 million tons of propane, 16 million tons of butane, and 8 million tons of sulfur in 25 years.
“Furthermore, 31 million tons of ethane produced by the company were delivered to Iran’s petrochemical plants,” he noted.
According to Bahush, the South Pars Gas Company currently receives 650 million cubic meters of rich gas daily from the South Pars gas field. Of that, 580 million cubic meters are processed and transferred to the country's gas network.
At the same time, the company produces 780,000 barrels of gas condensate, 15,000 tons of ethane, 15,000 tons of propane, 10,000 tons of butane, and 2,500 tons of sulfur per day, as the official also pointed out.
The South Pars Gas Company (SPGC) of Iran processes high-quality gas extracted from the South Pars gas field. This corporation provides more than 75 percent of the gas consumed in the country. The corporation operates 12 gas refineries.
The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field between Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran's share in the field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
