BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 25. Azerbaijan's Ashagi Vang, Yukhari Vang, Nadirkhanli, and Zar small hydropower plants (HPP) are planned to be operational in 2024, Trend reports, referring to Azerenerji OJSC (country's largest electrical power producer).
Construction of four small HPPs is currently underway in Kalbajar district. Additionally, Azerenerji noted that six small hydropower plants have been reconstructed and put into operation in Kalbajar district.
"In 2022, a small hydroelectric power plant "Kalbajar-1" with a capacity of 4.4 MW was built, and in 2023 - "Chirag-1" with a capacity of 8.33 MW, "Chirag-2" with a capacity of 3.6 MW, "Gamishli" with a capacity of 6.33 MW, "Soyugbulag" with a capacity of 5.3 MW and "Meydan" with a capacity of 3.4 MW," said in the statement.
Immediately after the liberation of Kalbajar district, a high-voltage two-circuit power transmission line was built from Dashkasan district to Kalbajar at a distance of 70 km, passing through Mount Murov at an altitude of 3,500 meters.
In off road areas with steep mountains, severe frost, and snow thickness of 3-5 meters, anchor poles 50 meters high and weighing 10 tons were installed (the task was performed in poor conditions).
At the same time, a 110/35/10 kV digital substation was built in Kalbajar, which is located in a difficult area with a harsh climate and was opened in the summer of 2021.
