BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 5. The National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) made a target to raise the country’s gasoline production capacity to 130 million liters per day, said Jalil Salari, Deputy Oil Minister and the CEO of NIORDC, Trend reports.

Salari noted that the company is working on developing and upgrading its oil refineries to achieve this goal.

The director also said that the company is focusing on building new facilities and improving the quality of its products, as well as the quality of the vehicles in the country.

He urged the removal of old cars, which account for 3.5 million of the total fleet in Iran. He said that by scrapping these cars, the country can save 4-5 million liters of gasoline per day and export the surplus.

The Iranian side states that, on average, 115 million liters of gasoline and 112 million liters of diesel are currently produced daily in Iran.

At present, over 70 percent of gasoline and diesel in the country (75 million liters of gasoline and 70 million liters of diesel) is produced in accordance with Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards.

By March 20, 2027, it is planned to produce more than 75 percent of gasoline and diesel in accordance with Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards.

Currently, 2,286,000 barrels of crude oil and gas condensate are processed by Iran’s 10 oil refineries per day.
