REPAIR WORKS ON LAYING NEW ELECTRICAL TRANSMISSION LINES CONNECTING AZERBAIJANI AND IRANIAN ENERGY SYSTEMS TO START IN SEPTEMBER

Repair and mounting works on laying new electrical transmission lines (ETL) with the length of 350 km to connect the Azerbaijani and Iranian energy systems will start in the current September, the Ambassador of Iran to Azerbaijan Afshar Suleymani stated, the JSC Azerenerji press service told Trend.

For the construction of ETL the energy company SUNIR is involved from the Iranian side, from the Azerbaijani one- Azerenerji.

Construction of the high-voltage electrical transmission lines is projected within the project: Imishli-Alibayramli hydro electrical power station (HEPS), Alibayramli HEPS вЂ"Salyan, Salyan-Masalli, Masalli-Astara, a new 220-kVolt substation “Salyan”, as well as complete and partial reconstruction of the system substations “Imishli”, “Masalli”, distribution facilities at the Alibayramli HEPS.

The contract for allocating the loan in the amount of $75 million was signed on 22 April 2005 in Baku. The accord on allocating the loan by the Iranian “Export” bank for the above-mentioned projects was concluded in August 2004 in Tehran. The volume of the energy cross-flow is supposed to be brought to 700 MWt soon.
