Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR) is interested in the reconstruction of Baku Oil Refining Factories Azneftyag and ORF named after Heydar Aliyev (Ex- Azerneftyanadjag). The quality of oils produced at the Azneftyag is of the first concern, SOCAR told Trend.

We regularly receive offers from foreign companies to modernize the ORF, SOCAR told.

Noticing that the Indian companies have already presented 2 suggestions to reconstruct oil- refining factories in Azerbaijan, and official Deli is waiting for an answer. According to the Indian ambassador in the country, Jioti Svarupa Pande one of the largest Indian oil companies has submitted its suggestions to SOCAR in December 2005.

American company UOP now conducting the tests to increase the quality of the fuel produced at the ORF named after Heydar Aliyev via decreasing the benzol levels in 0,2%. Oxypro installation building will allow the factory to increase the gasoline production to 1,2 billion tons annually. Alkylene installation will produce the gasoline alkylate in 300,000 tons/year and Oxypro -130,000 tons of high-octane gasoline a year. The project cost is $60-90m; it will be recouped in 27 months.

We invest big hopes in UOP, but it wont be able to modernize fully all Baku ORF alone, SOCAR said.
