The cost of a BP`s project Management of Reservoir Waters and Their Removal within the ful-scale development of the fields Azeri-Chiragh-Gunashli is $420 m., Harry Alan, Project Manager of BP Azerbaijan told, Trend reports. $50-$60 m. out of these sum are expenses aimed at construction of inland facilities and objects in Sangachal, $130 m. on construction of a pipeline, the rest - on purchasing al necessary equipment. He pointed out that due to the increase in the oil production from the above-mentioned fields, the volume of reservoir waters will increase as well.

As oil is produced, water gets into it. The water should be removed from it. Being filled with not a big quantity of organic substances and its high salinity, this water can cause problems. Up to 95 percent of water that is separated from oil prior its carrying to the Sangachal Oil terminal on the facilities within Azeri-Chiragh-Gunashli will be again injected to the oil reservoir. The rest 5 percent of water will be separated in the Oil Terminal. A project on management and removal of reservoir waters aimed at the water separated in the terminal are expected to be launched soon. The project will allow solving this issue in a long-term outlook.

An underwater pipeline to the water and gas injection and platform on the field Central Azeri is expected to be constructed within this project. The pipeline will carry water to the field to inject it to the oil bed together with the water separated offshore.
