Canadian Company Received an Approval for Clean-up of Several Oil-Polluted Lands in Azerbaijan

On November 29, Canadian CenGroup Petroleum Corporation announced that it has received authorization to recover oil from several sites in and around the Azeri capital city of Baku, Trend reports with reference to the statement of the company.

CenGroup has pre-fabricated extraction and transportation equipment. Currently it is being delivered from the USA. The Company is gearing up operations. EnviroMop(TM) will continue shipping sorbent from the USA until the Baku manufacturing plant is operational.

Presently there are many oil-polluted territories in Baku and Absheron peninsula. According to the order of the President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, Rovnak Abdullayev, a plan has been prepared to resolve the problem.

Within the program, it is planned to clean up and rehabilitate the lands in the territory of Oil and Gas Production Units Balakhanineft, Gum Adasi, Bibiheybat and named after G.Z. Tagiyev. A Department Azerneftekologiyaservis has been created for this purpose and has already commenced works. The Department has held monitoring in Balakhanineft and Gum Adasi, and this process will continue in Bibiheybat.
