Azerbaijani & Russian Energy Companies to Discuss Price of Electricity to Be Supplied in 2007

The Azerenerji joint stock company is waiting for a delegation of the Russian energy company Unified Energy Systems to visit Baku. Marlen Asgarov, the Vice President of Azerenerji, informed Trend that talks in Baku will focus on the price and volume of electricity to be supplied to Azerbaijan in 2007.

Earlier Azerbaijan reached an agreement with Russia on the electricity delivery in 2000. The co-operation will continue until the end of 2006 on the same terms. In 2007 Azerbaijan intends to purchase 700mln KW/h of electricity from Russia.

Over the past year Russia has supplied 1,033 bln KW/h of electricity from Azerbaijan at the price of 2.8 cents per 1 KW/h.
