Azerbaijan launched Test Gas Production from Shahdaniz Field

Р'Р  Azerbaijan has resumed the gas production from offshore gas field, Shahdaniz to dynamically testing the first pre-drilling well, after troubles and shortcoming emerged on it were eliminated, Trend reports.

As soon as the situation with the well is studied, the production might increase, however that will happen only after all the tests are completed. Specialists are going to check the impact of the pressure, temperature, and other parameters on the well.

Р'Р  Azerbaijan has completed pouring grout into the first pre-drilling well. Notably, earlier there were some troubles in it. According to the preliminary data, all the troubles and shortcomings could be eliminated. The production on the field may be resumed in a day or two.

A gas escape has been recently found at the depth of 800-900 meters on the first pre-drilling well on Shahdaniz Field resulting in suspending the gas production.

In the middle of February, 2007, the Company intends to launch the second pre-drilling well. Presently, works on the well is underway.

The gas production from the first well was launched on December 15, 2006. The daily gas production rate was 5,6 mln.cubic meters of gas and 2.500 tons of gas condensate.

8,6 bln. cubic meters of gas are expected to be produced on the stage of plateau within Stage 1 of the development of Shahdaniz field. 5,4-5,6 bln. cubic meters are expected to be produced from the field in 2007.
