SOCAR Energy : Georgia Announces Plans on Work in the Fuel Market of Georgia

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Aliyev / SOCAR Energy Georgia Company, in which the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has 51% share, intends to construct an oil base in Georgia with a capacity of 20.000 cu.m, SOCAR Energy Georgia's Director General, Mahir Mammadov , announced.

The base will not only provide AI-92-95 benzene imported from Azerbaijan, but will also supply AI-98 which will be imported from Greece.

The area of the base will be nearly 5 ha. The construction is planned to be completed by the end of next year.

In addition, SOCAR Energy Georgia intends to construct a smaller regional base in Marneuly with the holding capacity of up to 5.000 tons. It is planned to begin construction of filling stations in Bolnisy in July, in Dmnasi in September, Mammadov said.

According to him, presently SOCAR Energy Georgia makes up nearly 50-55% of the fuel market of Georgia.

"Approximately 15-16.000 tons of benzene is transported per month. The Company fully supplies gas to Georgia - nearly 1.5-2.000 tons," he stated.

At least 30 filling stations are planned to be constructed or purchased in Georgia by the end of next year. In the near future, the Company intends to purchase a network of filling stations (15). Mammadov said that the gross investments are planned to amount to $50 mln.
