Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will drill a new platform №2387, established on Oil Rocks, to accomodate twelve new wells. It will be in operation by the end of this year.
At present the assembly of upper buildings and techologcal requirements of the platform are underway. It is comrpised of two blocks with the weight of 542t each. With a height of 45m, the blocks will be installed in the water where the depth is 23.5m.
In accordance with the decree issued by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, production from the Oil Rocks will be increased from 821,000t/year to 1.2mln t/year. To resolve the problem, a new platform №1887 was installed in the field and thirty-five wells were drilled. According to geologists' estimation, annually it will produce approximately 1,000t of oil.
This year, as a result of commissioning this platform, oil production is expected to be increased to 920,000t/year.
Generally, six platforms for seventy-eight wells have been installed on Oil Rocks. The wells will be drilled on the fields when oil production has not yet been carried out.
