Main volume of securities transactions in Azerbaijan accounts for primary market

The Azerbaijani National Depository Center registered 4,299 exchange transactions and 566 over-the-counter (OTC) transactions from January through November 2019, Trend reports referring to the statistics data of National Depository Center (NDC).

Some 1,469 transactions worth 10.3 billion manat (over $6 billion) were concluded in the primary securities market, while 2,550 transactions were concluded in the secondary securities market, the total volume of which amounted to 1.5 billion manat ($882.3 million).

In percentage terms, the primary market accounted for 37 percent of transactions and 87 percent of the cash volume, while the secondary market accounted for 63 percent of transactions and 13 percent of the cash volume.

As reported, 350 transactions worth 1.6 billion manat ($941.1 million) were concluded on the primary OTC securities market, while 234 transactions were concluded on the secondary OTC market, the total volume of which amounted to 199.9 million manat ($117.5 million).

In percentage terms, the primary OTC market accounted for 59.9 percent of transactions and 89 percent of cash volume, while the secondary OTC market accounted for 40.1 percent of transactions and less than 11 percent of the cash volume.

In total, 1,819 transactions registered by NDC in the total volume of 11.8 billion manat ($6.9 billion) were concluded on the primary market. A total of 2,784 transactions registered by the National Depository Center with a total of 1.7 billion manat ($1 billion) were concluded on the secondary market.
