Review of money transfers from abroad to Georgia

The volume of money transfers from abroad to Georgia constituted $172.3 million in December 2019, Trend reports referring to National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

This is 14.2 percent ($21.4 million) more than the amount in December 2018.

Some 95 percent of the total money transfers from abroad came from 19 largest partner countries; the volume of the transfers from these countries each exceeding $1 million in December 2019.

In December 2019, Georgia received money transfers worth $65.1 million from the EU countries, including $23.8 million from Italy, $19.6 million from Greece, $5.17 million from Germany, $4.4 million from Spain, $2.3 million from Poland, $2.2 million from France, $1.5 million from the UK, $1.4 million from Cyprus and $1 million from Ireland.

As reported, $43.8 million was sent to Georgia from Russia, $16.5 million from the US, $14.5 million from Israel, $8.3 million from Turkey, $4.88 million from Kyrgyzstan, $4.87 million from Ukraine, $3.4 million from Kazakhstan, $2.2 million from Azerbaijan and $1.3 million from Canada.

In December 2019, $25.5 million was transferred from Georgia, which is 17.7 percent more compared to $21.7 million in December 2018.
