TOP-3 non-oil export products of Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan exported fresh tomatoes in the amount of $73.3 million in the first four months of 2020, which is 47.7 percent more compared to the same period last year, Trend reports citing the Export Review of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC).

Raw cotton ranks second in the list of products exported by Azerbaijan. The amount of exported raw cotton over the reporting period amounted to $44.3 million, showing an annual decline of 30 percent. The third place in the country’s export is taken by gold, which was exported in the amount of $43.7 million (an annual increase of 1.3 percent).

In 2019, Azerbaijan exported raw cotton worth $122.4 million, persimmon - $104.7 million, electricity - $76.8 million, methanol - $64.6 million, recycled polyethylene - $64 million, primary polypropylene - $65.7 million, and other products in the amount of $970.2 million.

In 1Q2019, persimmon, electricity, and peeled hazelnuts were the leaders in terms of export volume. The persimmon with exports value worth $12.6 million was leading in January 2019, electricity export worth $19.4 million - in February 2019, and peeled hazelnuts exported in the amount of $13.7 million - in March 2019.

In 2Q2019, the export leader was tomato, which was exported in the amount of $112.6 million.

In the third and the beginning of the fourth quarter, gold was the export leader in July-September ($77.6 million), persimmon with export value of $64.1 million was leading in October-November, the tomatoes whose exports amounted to $22.6 million were leading at the end of the fourth quarter.
