Volume of  Mobile Market on CIS Countries May Exceed $11bln in 2008

Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 February / Trend corr. S.Babayeva / According to MForum Analytics, the volume of the mobile phone market in post-Soviet countries excluding the Russian Federation may reach $11.7bln in 2008. The markets in Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova forecast the volume in the amount of $6.17bln, Middle Asia - $2.94bln, Caucasus - $1.31bln and Baltics -$1.25bln.

The mobile market in the aforesaid regions reached $9.8bln in 2007. An increase in the market in 2007 made up about 30% compared to 2006, MForum Analytics informed.

The biggest increase rate in the mobile market was observed in Middle Asia in 2006 - 61% ( Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan) and the least in Baltic countries 10% ( Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

The total volume of the market made up $5.30bln which fell to Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova in 2007 ($4.33bln - in 2006), $2.26bln - Middle Asia ($1.41bln - in 2006), $1.09bln - Caucasus ($0.79bln - in 2006) and $1.17bln - Baltics ($1.06bln - in 2006).

The micro regions share in the increase of the volume in Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova - 43%, Middle Asia - 38%, Caucasus - 14% and Baltics -5%.
