Turkey is starting the production of Turksat 6A communications satellite, a source in the Turkish Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications told Trend.
“Production of test models of the satellite has already started,” the source noted.
According to preliminary information, the Turksat 6A satellite will be ready by early 2018, the source said, adding that 600 million Turkish liras worth project will be financed by Turkish government.
“Turksat 6A is expected to be sent into orbit in 2020. Satellite’s weight, together with fuel, will be 4,300 kilograms.”
Turkey’s first reconnaissance satellite RASAT was launched in 2011. On December 18, 2012, country launched its second satellite Gokturk-2 from the Chinese Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.
