New duties for the registration of mobile devices will not apply to legal entities and individuals importing them for sale and business, according to the changes in the "Procedure for Registration of Mobile Devices" were made by the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan.
According to the decision, legal entities and individuals, as before, will pay customs duties and value added tax for the import of mobile devices.
A duty in the amount approved by the Cabinet of Ministers in accordance with law "On State Duty" is paid for registration of mobile devices imported into the country by an individual for personal use with the exception of mobile devices for which the customs duty and VAT are paid when they are imported into the country by legal entities and individuals for sale and business.
Since August 13, 2018, individuals importing mobile devices into the country will have to pay duties in the following way. Registration of mobile devices with a market value of up to $100, which do not have access to the internet, photo and video functions, will cost 20 manats.
For other mobile devices, the cost of registration will be 30 manats (at a market price of mobile device up to $100), 50 manats (from $101 to $200), 60 manats (from $201 to $400), 70 manats (from $401 to $700), 100 manats (from $701 to $1,000), 150 manats (from $1,001 and above).
A state duty of 20 manats is imposed on registration of devices, brand, model and market value of which at the time of registration were not included in the catalogue.
Earlier, the cost of registration of IMEI codes of mobile devices, regardless of their market price for personal use, was five manats, for commercial sale - 1.6 manats.
Mobile devices imported to the country for private use (in the networks of mobile operators in Azerbaijan) must be registered within 30 days.
