The number of e-health cards issued to parents of newborns increased by 6.1 percent in Azerbaijan in January-September 2018 compared to the figure in early 2018, the Health Informatization Center of the Azerbaijani Health Ministry told Trend on Oct. 2.
According to the Health Informatization Center, the number of e-health cards issued in January-September increased by 76,060 and reached 1,310,525.
Moreover, since early 2018, the Center has issued 5,965 e-health cards to the patients with diabetes mellitus who receive free medicines. In total, 105,942 e-health cards were issued to the patients with diabetes mellitus.
Over the first nine months of this year, 22,936 cards were issued to patients undergoing medical examination. In total, 344,681 e-health cards were issued to such patients, which is 7.1 percent more than in early 2018.
E-health cards contain information about the identity of the card holder, medical and social insurance and other data. Information is included in a single database of medical institutions through a local network.
