By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

By the end of this year, construction of new parking lots for aircraft is planned at the Tbilisi International Airport, the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency told Trend.

According to representatives of the agency, the construction phase of the new terminal at Kutaisi International Airport, which is scheduled to be completed next year, is in the active phase.

“As you know, from July 8 of this year, the Russian Federation unilaterally decided to terminate air traffic between the two countries. Undoubtedly, this will affect the passenger flow and, accordingly, the indicators will be lower than expected,” the agency said.

However, due to the fact that Georgian airlines have actively taken up the search for alternative routes, as well as increased frequency of flights to other international destinations, and new airlines continue to enter the market, it is expected that as a result the growth in passenger traffic in the coming year will be approximately 10 percent.
