BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 10. The number of tourists from Central Asian countries totaled 15,990 in September 2024, which is 17 percent higher than the figure for the same period in 2023 (13,685).
The data obtained by Trend from the country's State Tourism Agency shows that the number of tourists from Kazakhstan amounted to 7,350 (up 10 percent over a year), Uzbekistan - 4,287 (up 20 percent over a year), Turkmenistan - 3,007 (up 29 percent over a year), Kyrgyzstan - 739 (up 23 percent over a year), Tajikistan - 607 (up 14 percent over a year).
Meanwhile, a total of 133,200 tourists from Central Asian countries visited Azerbaijan from January through September this year, which is 39 percent higher than the figure for the same period of 2023 (95,871 people).
Furthermore, 1,983,361 foreigners visited Azerbaijan in the reporting period of the current year, which is 30 percent more than in the same period of 2023 (1,536,375).
A total of 2,086,548 foreign citizens visited Azerbaijan in 2023, which is more than 30.2 percent higher than the figure for 2022 (1,602,600), including 134,589 people from Central Asian countries, which is 82.31 percent higher than the figure for 2022 (73,823).
To note, a total of 545,730 people visited Azerbaijan from Central Asian countries in 2017-2023 (from Kazakhstan - 225,124, Turkmenistan - 145,216, Uzbekistan - 135,941, Kyrgyzstan - 21,296, Tajikistan - 18,153).
