The passenger capacity of Iranian airports will increase by 10 million people in the current Iranian year of (began March 20, 2020), said Iran's Minister of Road and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami, Trend reports citing Ministry.
According to Eslami, 10 airports have been commissioned in Iran since the current government came to power (on August 2013) and passenger capacity has reached 10 million people.In total, 20 trillion rials (about $476 million) have been invested in their construction.
Eslami added that 20 more facilities will be commissioned in the airports by the end of this year, and as a result, their passenger capacity will reach 20 million people.
"These facilities include local and international airport terminals, runways, parking lots and other objects,” he said.
The second passenger terminal of Lamerd Airport in Iran's Fars province was put into operation on April 23. Thus, the passenger capacity of this airport has increased from 150,000 to 900,000 passengers. As many as 400 billion rials (about $9.5 million) funds were spent on the project.
