It’s planned to create an institute of forwarders in Azerbaijan in the near future, the opening of which will solve certain difficulties in the field of international road transport, the Azerbaijan International Road Carriers Association told Trend.
In recent years, logistics centers were created in the country to simplify and improve the quality of international transport, but the lack of the institute of forwarders makes it difficult to combat the development of the black market on transportation tariffs, said the association.
“The absence of the institution of forwarders in Azerbaijan doesn’t allow organizing transportation at the proper level. Therefore, the country has ripened the need to create an institution of authorized transport forwarders,” the association noted.
“For this, it’s necessary to prepare a law on forwarding activities in Azerbaijan. The State Road Transport Service under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan is already preparing a plan on the creation of institute of forwarders, which will contribute to efficient development of the institute of transportation,” said the association.
“The driver’s personnel prepares auto plant for transportation, and the professional qualifications of international drivers and managers are improved at courses organized under the association. By the end of 2020, it’s planned to increase the number of qualified drivers, and thus increase trade through road transport with foreign countries,” the association said.
Azerbaijan International Road Carriers Association was established in May 1993. It is a non-commercial organization uniting Azerbaijani individuals and legal entities engaged in international transportation by truck. The association serves to represent and protect the interests of its members before national and competent authorities within the tasks assigned to it.
