Uzbekistan building infrastructure for electric cars

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 13

By Ilkin Seyfaddini – Trend:

Uzbekistan’s Uzbekneftegaz will build charging stations for electric cars in Tashkent in early 2021, Trend reports citing the local Kun.uz news agency.

This follows from the decree of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

According to the document, the government has been instructed to encourage the creation of service infrastructure for electric cars in the country, including the deployment of charging stations and service centers.

By September 2020, proposals on specific locations for infrastructure facilities serving electric cars are to be prepared.

The document says that by January 2021 two high-speed charging stations will be provided in Tashkent at the expense of Uzbekneftegaz own budget.

Earlier it was reported that the Tashkent taxi service is expected to introduce electric cars of Chinese BAIC Motor Corporation Limited. For this purpose, 500 cars have been purchased. For their service it is planned to bring 10 special charging stations, which will allow charging the car in 30 minutes.
