Kazakhstan’s revenue from the transportation of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage via railway transportation amounted to 680.8 billion tenge ($1.5 billion) over nine months of 2020, which is 6.4 percent more than during the same period of 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.
Revenue from the transportation of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage via railway in Sept. 2020 amounted to 82.5 billion tenge ($193.1 million), which is a 5.7 percent increase in comparison to the same month of 2019.
The volume of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage transported via railway during the reporting period amounted to 302.4 million tons, climbing 1.4 percent compared to the same period of last year (35.2 million tons in Sept. 2020, up by 1.4 percent year-on-year).
Cargo turnover amounted to 220.05 billion ton-kilometers rising by 4.7 percent in comparison to last year (25.9 billion in Sept. 2020, an increase of 7.5 percent).
In turn, Kazakhstan’s revenue from passenger transportation amounted to 33.8 billion tenge ($79.2 million) over nine months of 2020, which is a 40.4 percent slump in comparison to last year. September’s revenue from passenger transportation was 3.2 billion tenge ($7.6 million), which is 64 percent less than in Sept. 2019.
The number of transported passengers amounted to 8.3 million people, which is a 49.7 percent decline compared to the same period of last year (920,210 passengers in Sept. 2020, down by 52.2 percent).
The passenger turnover amounted to 6.3 billion passenger-kilometers (pkm) which compared to the same period of last year is a decrease of 46.2 percent. September’s passenger turnover was 703.4 million pkm (51 percent decrease year-on-year).
