Azerbaijan Railways' subsidiary discloses cargo handling volumes in Astara terminal

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 18

Azerbaijan’s ADY Express LLC transshipped 357,823 tons of cargo in the Astara terminal, located in Iran, from January through October 2020, which is 25 percent more compared to the same period of 2019, ADY Express Spokesman Ilham Abdulov told Trend.

The bulk of the handled cargo fell on wood and timber, construction materials, fruits, vegetables, grain, and its products and other goods, Abdulov said.

“In the first ten months of 2019, the volume of cargo shipped through the terminal amounted to 285,283 tons. The average daily volume of cargo handled during this period amounted to 1,339 tons or 22 wagons,” said the spokesman.

According to Abdulov, Russia and Iran were in the lead by the volume of cargo transportation along the North-South route.

The operator of the transshipment of goods at the Astara cargo terminal (Iran) is the subsidiary of the Azerbaijan Railways CJSC - ADY Express LLC.
