The second block train has been sent from Chinese Qingdao city to Baku, a source in the subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, ADY Container LLC, told Trend.
According to the source, the block train consists of 51 containers with a 40-TEU capacity.
The source said that after the train arrives in Kazakhstan's Aktau, the containers will be delivered to the port of Baku by a feeder vessel operated by the ADY Container.
Most of the transported goods are intended for Azerbaijan.
“Ten containers will be shipped from Baku to Georgia, and three to Turkey. By the end of 2021, the company plans to send about 50 container block trains in the direction of China-Azerbaijan,” added the source.
This project is being implemented within joint cooperation between KTZ Express, ADY Container LLC, and GR Logistics and Terminals, which are members of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
The first container block train on the Qingdao-Baku route arrived in Azerbaijan in February 2021. Qingdao Port is considered the second largest port in China with the largest grain and oil terminals in the country. In 2019, the port shipped 1 billion tons of cargo.
