The volume of freight traffic on the Azerbaijani segment of the International Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) from January through March 2021 made up over 10.1 million tons, which is an 18.8 percent decline compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee's report.
During the specified period, cargo transportation in Azerbaijan amounted to over 2.4 million ton-kilometers, which is 8.7 percent less year on year.
At the same time, the volume of goods transported by road amounted to 5.6 million tons, or 55.4 percent of the total volume of cargo transportation; railway transport – 3.3 million tons (32.9 percent), sea transport - more than 1.19 million tons (11.7 percent).
Out of the total volume of cargo transportation, transit accounted for over 2.3 million tons (23.5 percent).
