Kazakhstan's revenues from railway passenger transport soar

Kazakhstan’s revenue from passenger transportation amounted to 4.1 billion tenge ($9.5 million), which is 200 times more than in May 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

The revenue was 19.4 billion tenge ($45.2 million) over five months of 2021, which is 10.7 percent less in comparison to last year.

The number of transported passengers amounted to 5.1 million people, which is a 1.3 percent more compared to the same period of last year (1.03 million passengers in May 2021, up by 260 times).

The passenger turnover amounted to 3.9 billion passenger kilometers (pkm) which compared to the same period of last year is an increase of 6 percent. May’s passenger turnover was 848.5 million pkm (212 times increase year-on-year).

Kazakhstan’s revenue from the transportation of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage via railway transportation amounted to 426.8 billion tenge ($999.4 million) over five months of 2021, which is 9.7 percent more than during the same period of 2020.

Revenues from the transportation of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage via railway in May 2021 amounted to 94.8 billion tenge ($221.09 million), which is 11.2-percent increase in comparison to the same month of 2020.

The volume of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage transported via railway during the reporting period amounted to 170.4 million tons, climbing by 3.9 percent compared to the same period of last year (35.8 million tons in May 2021, up by 7 percent year-on-year).

Cargo turnover amounted to 120.2 billion ton-kilometers increasing by 1.2 percent in comparison to last year (26.6 billion in May 2021, an increase of 9.3 percent).
