Spanish company delivers second electric train to Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan Railways company received the second high-speed electric train from the Spanish Patentes Talgo S.L.U., Trend reports referring to the press service of Uzbekistan Railways.

These trains are called Afrosiyob in Uzbekistan.

The first train arrived from the Spanish city of Bilbao to Tashkent on July 25. The second train was delivered to Uzbek capital on October 1.

It is expected that the trains will be used on the Tashkent-Samarkand, Tashkent-Bukhara and Tashkent-Karshi routes. The second train will also connect Tashkent and Khiva cities in the future, when electrification on this railway section will be completed.

This is the sixth high-speed train of this modification in Uzbekistan.

In April 2019, Uzbekistan Railways signed a contract with the Spanish Patentes Talgo for the purchase of two high-speed trains AVE 250. The contract value was 57.5 million euros.

In addition to two trains, the Spanish company also has to supply four spare economy class cars, as well as equipment for the depot.

The contract is financed by a loan from Spanish Fund for the Internationalization of Company (FIEM).
