Alliance Logistics plans to connect Iran to Russian-Azerbaijani railway project

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 24

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

The Azerbaijani Alliance Logistics company plans to connect Iran to the joint Russian-Azerbaijani Agro Express railway project, Chairman of the Board of Alliance Logistics Natig Heydarov said in an interview with Trend .

Heydarov said that Iran exports agricultural products to Russia, which are transported via vehicles.

"Our goal is to transport as much cargo as possible via trains,” the chairman of the board said. “It is cheaper. More goods can be transported via one carriage than via one truck.”

Heydarov said that the Iranian side is not participating in the joint Russian-Azerbaijani Agro Express project now.

“It is planned to connect Iran to the project on our initiative,” Heydarov noted.

Heydarov also stressed that Iranian cargoes are transited to Russia through Azerbaijan mainly along the North-South international transport corridor.

“This corridor implies not only the transportation of goods from Iran,” the chairman of the board added. “It opens for us access to the markets of India and Pakistan. Russia exports building materials, grain along this route while in the opposite direction – fruits, vegetables, textile.”
