BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 4. Cargo transportation in Azerbaijan by rail increased by 18 percent within January through June 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, Trend reports via Azerbaijan Railways.
According to the company, the growth of transit cargo transportation by rail has reached 48 percent, compared to the same period in 2021.
"Transit cargo transportation of fuel and energy products has almost doubled, transit cargo of food products increased by 80 percent, industrial goods has almost doubled. At the same time, export of fuel and energy products by rail decreased by 56 percent, mineral and construction materials - by 94 percent, chemical products - by 77 percent. The import of fuel and energy products by rail has increased up to four times year-on-year," the company said.
In addition, domestic transportation of fuel and energy products increased by 94 percent, mineral raw materials - by 37 percent, industrial goods - almost doubled compared to the period from January to June 2021.
