BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 22. The volume of cargo transported by trucks in Iran’s Ardabil Province (north-western Iran), increased by 11 percent, during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through February 19, 2023), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of the Road and Transport Department of Iran’s Ardabil Province, Kalimollah Vosughi said, Trend reports referring to Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
In total, 4 million tons of cargo were transported by trucks in the province within 11 months, according to Vosughi.
He added that the figure stood at 3.6 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.
Vosughi said that the main transported goods through the province’s roads were cement, potatoes, construction materials, mineral water, watermelon, diesel, gasoline, and so on.
The director general also pointed out that 1.9 million tons of cargo were transported in Ardabil County, 988,000 tons in Namin County, 352,000 tons in Parsabad County, 256,000 tons in Khalkhal County, 178,000 tons in Bilasuvar County, and the rest via other counties of Ardabil Province in 11 months.
Meanwhile, there are 90 companies operating in cargo transportation in Ardabil Province. At the same time, there are 13,550 trucks and 2 cargo terminals in the province.
