BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iran’s Astara port in the Gilan Province (northern Iran) decreased by 74 percent, in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the same month in the last year, Trend reports.
Approximately 4,930 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the Astara port in the 1st month. About 3,830 tons of cargo were loaded and 1,100 tons were unloaded.
Of that, 2,950 tons of cargo were exported and 984 tons were imported through the Astara port during the reporting month.
Also, 876 tons of cargo were loaded at the port for transit, as well as 116 tons were unloaded for other purposes within the 1st month.
Some 2,420 tons of construction and mining materials, 171 tons of equipment, vehicles, spare parts, 291 tons of chemicals, 984 tons of leather goods, clothing, wood materials, paper and so on, and 1,060 tons of container products were loaded and unloaded at the Astara port in the 1st month of the current Iranian year.
In total, 11.9 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 1st month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 5.22 million tons were loaded and 6.68 million tons were unloaded. This is a decrease of 0.7 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
