Iran reveals amount of funds spent on building southern coast highway

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 26. Iran has spent 21 trillion rials (about $500 million) on a coastal highway in the south of the country, Trend reports.

The highway, which stretches for 1,850 kilometers along the Persian Gulf, will connect Chabahar port in the southeast to Shalamcheh border post in the southwest.

On December 26, 58 kilometers of the highway (the part in Sistan and Baluchistan Province) were inaugurated by Iran’s Road and Urban Development Minister Mehrdad Bazrpash and other officials.

The province has 312 kilometers of the highway (91 kilometers operational, 205 kilometers under construction, 16 kilometers are awaiting to be auctioned via tender).

The operational part of the highway in the province consists of three sections: Karvan-Konarak (22 kilometers, worth about $143 million), Chabahar-Konarak (18 kilometers, worth about $119 million), and Chabahar port-city (18 kilometers, worth about $238 million).
