Kazakhstan and Belarus plan to increase bilateral trade turnover up to one billion dollars, Prime Minister of Belarus, Mikhail Myasnikovich said at a business forum in Astana.

He said it will be easy to reach the one billion mark.

"Our economies are complementary and we are partners, not rivals," Myasnikovich said.

He said Kazakhstan ranks third after Russia and Ukraine for Belarus in the volume of trade turnover.

He also said that since 2010, Belarus has invested $175 million in Kazakhstan's economy.

According to the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Akhmetov, the volume of trade turnover between Belarus and Kazakhstan in 2011 amounted to $730 million, which is 72 per cent more than before establishment of the Customs Union.

However according to Akhmetov, the potential of trade relations have not been fully utilised. He said the most promising areas for the development of bilateral cooperation is the mining industry and the use of transit potential of the two countries, as well as agriculture.
