Inflation rate in Kazakhstan at 0.9 per cent in January 2013

Last month food prices in Kazakhstan rose by 0.5 per cent, non-food prices by 0.2 per cent and paid services by 2.2 per cent, according to the Agency for Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to the agency, in the past month the price increase for potatoes was at 3.1 per cent, fruit and vegetables at three per cent, raw milk 1.2 per cent, sour cream at 0.9 per cent, pasta and curd 0.8 per cent, flour at 0.5 per cent, oil, tea 0.4 per cent and eggs, bread and flour confectionery products at 0.3 per cent. A decrease in price that took place for buckwheat was recorded at 1.2 per cent and for sugar at 0.2 per cent.

Tobacco prices increased by 0.8 per cent, household appliances by 0.6 per cent, books, newspapers and magazines by 0.5 per cent, medications, solid fuel by 0.4 per cent and clothing and footwear by 0.2 per cent.

Prices for transport services increased by 3.2 per cent, for pre-school and primary education 1.3 per cent, healthcare and hairdressing and personal service establishments by 1.1 per cent. Legal services rose in price by 7.2 per cent and insurance of personal vehicles by seven per cent.

In the area of housing and communal services, tariffs for cold water rose by 11.7 per cent, electricity by 5 per cent, central heating by 2.5 per cent, hot water and sewer rates by 2.3 per cent, rates for gas transported through the distribution network and garbage collection by 0.8 per cent and housing maintenance by 0.6 per cent.
