Five people hospitalized as two trains collide in Kazakhstan

Five people were hospitalized after two trains collided in Kazakh city of Almaty, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported with the reference to Kazakh Emergency Situations Ministry.

Shunting locomotive drawing Almaty-Petropavlovsk train without passengers collided with Almaty-Novosibirsk train at Almaty-2 train station on July 28 at 06:05 p.m. Almaty time.

Five people including four members of staff of Almaty-Petropavlovsk train and one passenger of Almaty-Novosibirsk train were hospitalized with various injures following the collision. Other passengers were slightly injured and refused to be hospitalized.

Due to the accident the train running to Novosibirsk was 3 hours 16 minutes late to depart and the train running to Petropavlovsk departed 3 hours 19 minutes late.

A criminal investigation was launched on the accident.
